This, by contrast, works 'first time, every time.' We have a similar kind that uses a ratcheting lever, and it doesn't work nearly as well. Oxo did well with this can opener. It does everything they say it does, and does it well. Not only is the ratcheting motion foreign and tiring to our hands, the opener doesn't actually open some cans unless you run it round the rim 2 or 3 times.
Bought 4 more for my kids. Very comfortable grip and knob.
You won't be disappointed. I just hate to put them in the recycle bin like cans opened with my old can opener.
Now I'm trying to come up with uses for the cans and lids. If you don't have this can opener, BUY IT.
Bought one, tried it out, couldn't stop talking about it. No worrying about cutting your fingers on can lids or can edges.
(By the way, I threw my old can opener away).
I love that the edges of the can and lid are smooth and you can't get cut on them. I will never own any other kind of can opener. This is the best can opener I've ever used. It is easy to operate and doesn't take a lot of hand strength so great for those with arthritis.
This can opener is the best I've ever had. Very easy and clean to use.
It is awkward to use and friends helping me cook always have a hard time with it. Looks pretty and sturdy, that's about all it has going for it. My husband (a 14 year chef) and I both hate this can opener. Worst of all there are some cans we run across on a regular basis that it just does not work on.
